I do like number 2, as the heaviness of the font bespeaks a solidity and seriousness. Plus, the placement of the compass rose isn't as distractive from the name of the company as the spiral of number one many have a tendency to do.
In fact, the compass rose adds to the logo name, as it places the name on the east side, which is the side of the rising sun, the theatric side indicating life, and the hand of God that the Christ is to sit at.
Perhaps I read too much into things... but the subconscious see all sorts of connections, Bill.
I like the delicacy of number one, but not as a logo, per se. I just like curly things.
Definitely, number 2 is a letterhead subject, in my opinion.
I liked the scroll better than the M-ap in the first version, but the heavier font and compass rose really sell me on the idea here. Sure, it's a little "obvious", but I think that's exactly what you want in marketing your business. :)
Maybe soften the edges/corners of the font. I like the weight, I like the placement, but the razor sharp edges jar my eye a little. Probably just Me :)
The compass rose was executed very, very nicely and the touch of shadow lifts it off the page. Well done.

Where's the 8-track?
srsly - the second of this pair looks nice.
