And I had such high hopes, too...

Dishwasher Hell, part #2: The Spray Arm

In a world dominated by machines, one man will be tested

He will see his faith weakened, his stamina stretched to breaking

Until one day he will make the ultimate sacrifice

...

He will have to wash dishes by hand

All because the lower spray arm doesn't turn now. I've got a couple of posts out to some online forums for this sort of thing, now it's just a waiting game.

Hey, John? Didn't you find an online place that helped you out with some issue a year or so ago? Do you remember the address?

Try cleaning it with CLR or vinegar. The inner jets may be blocked, preventing it from getting pressure to turn.

Thought to that, so I cracked the door and observed the action. My floor got wet six feet away. Pressure seems to be good (yikes!). I'd hate to think that it takes MORE than that to make the thing turn...

It probably does need a good flushing regardless, though.

repairclinic.com

They helped us repair the old washing machine several times, and they saved a co-worker from having to buy a new one by replacing a $5 part.

Nice. I've got an email into them.

How do you like the new icon? When a White Star logo just isn't enough...

I saw it and started giggling. That's good.

Were they able to help you with the problem with the dishwasher?

[identity profile] billthetailor.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas, no. I got back a canned response to my question all about reasons for inadequate water pressure, which leads me to believe they didn't actually read my question. To clarify what I needed, I would have had to re-type and re-phrase, and I just don't want to bother.

Samurai Appliance Repair Man

Great site.

FWIW, a few years ago when I put a dishwasher in at the old house, I got a new Frigidare 3 arm unit for about $200 at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Good place to check, especially when they have a sale.
