The Water is Wide.

The voices you hear in the background aren't EVP...they're my kids laying on the floor coloring listening to the music.

You know, apart from the fact that this is a killer tune (and I'm surprised I've never worked it up) what strikes me is that camera. I've done some stuff out here for local TV that I've been wanting to pull some stuff off of for YouTube/etc, but the sound is just ATROCIOUS... with a capital SHIT.

You should bring that camera out and give them lessons*.

We should have gone through it a couple more times. It's pretty, fun, and would have given me time to get more tasteful as the piece went on. If you ever want backup for a recording of it, lemme know. I can have something worked out with 15-20 mins.

** See how I worked that in all subtle-like? I may be a curmudgeon, but I'm a crafty curmudgeon.

The audio's pretty good, though I still had to play with the EQ to make it listenable. In the best of all possible worlds, audio goes to a separate device from multiple mics, but Osage is rarely the best of all possible worlds.

I may just send you an MP3 scratch track...

Most of the sound for the TV stuff was through a lapel mic (which got overwhelmed a lot of the time) and I think a high-hanging overhead studio mic. Either way it blows.

As for MP3s and stuff, send away. I have the technology. I need to get back into doing some recording of my own anyway. It's hard to find the quiet with the menagerie.

Oh, that was simply lovely! Thank you so very much for sharing. It made me smile (and get a little teary, but that was the beauty, so we'll let it slide.)

Ok Bill, here's what you've gotta do. E-mail the link to js.odonnell@verizon.net. That way it'll come up on the laptop, and when we're using the laptop (which plays YouTube clips a lot more smoothly), we'll see it, and remember to go look...and then we can HEAR YOU! :-D

Hee. Done. :)

That was WONDERFUL! One of my all time favorite songs. I had to play it again so I could sing along the second time.
