Teeth have always been a problem

I've been recently waking up feeling a bit like someone's been at my teeth with a rasp while I've been asleep.  I suspect it's been me.  I'm finally going to take my dentist's advice and try a dental shield.

Start with a horseshoe-shaped piece of plastic, heat it till soft, bite on it till it hardens again.  At $30, it better be worth it.

It certainly is uncomfortably bulky.  I had a retainer as a kid - or at least, a bit of wire running behind my teeth since my parents couldn't afford full-on braces, hence, the teeth I have now - but it wasn't noticeable.  Not so, this bit of dental bliss.  It's not painful, just...bulky, and it makes it a little hard to swallow since the inside shape of my mouth is substantially altered.

Terrific.  Get to spend the night drooling.  I'll get used to it I'm sure, but it may take a few nights.

I was a grinder, and damn near gave myself TMJ from it. My dentist made a hard night guard for me out of the material retainers are made from. It was annoying at first but he was able to file it down so that it fit just right and eventually it "trained" me not to grind my teeth in my sleep.
