Another visit to the river

We went back to Napoleon tonight to see if the river had indeed risen as high as the predictions. It had. The sidewalk we stood on yesterday was mostly underwater, only a few feet of it still visible and dry. The water was touching the bottom of the bridge at the edge of town.

Tonight, though, we added frogs to the experience. The riverbank - a whole lot more accessible than it was yesterday - was lousy with frogs. Mostly little ones - the kind that squeak when they jump into the water - but a few big ones. Jami stood motionless for nearly five minutes watching a large one, just its eyes visible above the waterline.

We stopped at the overlook on the way back and watched the sun set over the river and valley. It was gorgeous.
