Because It Bears Repeating
To any and all who plan to come to Independence and use the Noland Rd bridge over I70 (exit 12) to get around:
That bridge is gone. The interchange will reopen sometime in May, but for the time being, here's what you do if you're coming from the West and:
...want to go South toward 40 HWY: exit like you would anyway. You can do that.
...want to take Noland Rd. North toward the Square: continue past Noland Rd. to Lees Summit Rd exit, about a mile further on. Cross up to 39th, 35th, or 23rd streets, backtrack West to Noland. Because it's not an official detour, 23rd St. is your best bet if there's nothing you need on Noland Rd. south of the Square. 35th if you're coming to Osage.
It's a little longer, but less confusing than trying to navigate the mess that is Wal*Mart/Blue Ridge Blvd/Crysler/40 Hwy.
