A weird and oddly pleasant weekend

Michelle's root canal on Friday went well, and she was mostly back in business by Saturday. Since we were kidless we went and did some errands that often turn into nightmares when the kids are with us, like a trip to Pensey's and Whole Foods.

Sunday, we helped a friend move from a questionable part of town, and had our license stickers stolen off the van for our trouble. I even suspect who did it, not that I'm going to go all Denzel Washington about it.

Here's the funny thing about that. According to KCPD, when your tags are stolen you're supposed to file a police report, and then take that (or the Form 19 saying that you intend to get the report) to the DMV to get your tags replaced.  I called KCPD when we got home yesterday, reported the incident and got my case number and the preceeding instructions.

I stopped by one of the many KCPD department buildings to get the Form 19 and went to the DMV. Here's how the math breaks down:

Report the incident. Request a copy of the report, pay $10 and wait two weeks for it. Take $3.50 to the DMV with the report. Total: 2 weeks and $13.50.

OR

Screw the report and pay $12.00 right at the DMV. Total: 1/2 an hour and $12.00.

They don't take debit cards, so I still don't have new tags, but as soon as I have the cash in hand I'll take care of that. Option 2, in case you were wondering.
