Well, damn.

We buried Nafoill under the maple tree this morning. Suffering from old age and kidney failure, I took him to the vet for a last look-see, and she agreed there was nothing to do for him but ease his passing.

And so we did. I held him as he left.

Goddamn...I wasn't prepared for the death of one small gray cat to hurt this much.

We should all be so lucky as to have relationships that hurt so much when we are distanced from them, to have loved ones to mourn so, and to have those who would mourn so over us. I'm sure he feels it, just as you all do. That doesn't make it any easier, though. ::sad sigh:: Prayers, love, hugs, soggy shoulders and thoughts that just don't translate, for you and the whole family.
